The European Mink is found in Spain, France, Romania, Sweden,
Poland and parts of Russia. Mink have long been valued for their fur and
have been hunted to near extinction in parts of Europe. Some steps have
been taken to breed and release mink back into the wild, with mixed results.
The female mink is smaller than the male mink, with females weighing
about 1.3 pounds and males weighing about 2 pounds. They often have a
white patch on their lower lips and the shape varies from one mink to
another, so it can be used as a way of identifying one mink from another.
